Sports Education Essay -- Education
Sports Education allows students to become more involved with the curriculum of the class. This is done by educating students to be players in the fullest sense, and to help them develop as competent, literate and enthusiastic sports people. This model should not be used in a regular physical education class because its take a lot of devotion and motivation on the studentsââ¬â¢ part to make this work. Offering a class as an elective that uses this model as the basis for their curriculum would be most beneficial. This way students that want to dedicate themselves to a class like this can do so by choice. Through participation, students will achieve the twelve objectives laid out by this model. Develop skills and fitness specific to particular sports. Appreciate and be able to execute strategic play in sports. Participate at a level appropriate to their stage of development. Share in the planning and administration of sport experiences. Provide responsible leadership. Work effectively within a group toward common goals. Appreciate the rituals and conventions that give particular sports their unique meanings. Develop the capacity to make reasoned decisions about sport issues. Develop and apply knowledge about umpiring, referring, and training. Decide voluntarily to become involved in after-school sports. The Sports Education model isnââ¬â¢t about students playing a game every day itââ¬â¢s much more than that. For students, the benefits of sport education participation include an increased investment in physical education, an increased level of learning in games units, and increased opportunities for potentially marginalized students. This model is broken down into six basic components that include seasons, team affiliation, formal comp... ...kouts during practices. Anyone can participate in a sport and be physically active. A student that experiences a sports education while get more of an understanding of the sport then someone who just plays the sport. This is because of the students are doing more than just playing the game. They set up the game; referee the game, and attempt to understand how every position is played. Utilizing core concepts of the interdisciplinary physical education model and the fitness education model one can ensure that they will leave with a well-rounded education. Works Cited Hastie, Peter. Compromise in the American Constitution
The United States Constitution is a bundle of compromises mainly because there were contending groups during its early stages of conceptualization and even during its formation. On one side, there were those who criticized the first constitution of Americaââ¬âthe Articles of Confederationââ¬âfor lacking several key provisions and adjustments that could give the government more power. Those who were for the reformation of the Articles and for the creation of a stronger national government are called the ââ¬Å"federalistsâ⬠.On the other hand, there were also those who feared that giving the national government too much power may result to the infringement on the welfare of the individual citizens of the country. Those who opposed the endowment of wider powers to the national government would later on accept the compromise of securing a ââ¬Å"Bill of Rightsâ⬠so that the government especially the Congress will not make laws that violate the rights of the citizens.App arently, the Bill of Rights came to be the first manifestation of a compromise that sought to resolve the contending issues at that time. While the Articles of Confederation was later on replaced by the United States Constitution, the Constitution did not entirely survive the years without plenty of changes to it. Part of the reason to it is the fact that there was a fear at the time that granting the national government full powers would allow the situation wherein the people are aggravated in exchange for expediency and productivity on the part of the government. The first amendment to the Constitution came to be known as the Bill of Rights which lists the essential rights that each American is entitled to. The Bill of Rights provides the first ten amendments to the Constitution as proposed by Thomas Jefferson. Although the Bill of Rights was eventually ratified, it did not easily pass through Congress without the criticisms of those who oppose it, one of whom is Alexander Hamilton , a leading figure among the so-called ââ¬Å"federalistsâ⬠(Chan, 2004).The federalists generally saw the establishment of a Bill of Rights as a constitutional amendment that could limit the rights of individuals because it merely protects the rights that are explicitly stated in it. That being the case, the rights that are not included in the Bill may not be acknowledged as part of the recognized rights. The opposition to the federalistsââ¬âthe so-called ââ¬Å"anti-federalistsâ⬠ââ¬âhowever claimed that it is not necessarily the case.As a result, the Ninth Amendment was included which sought to protect the rights that are not enumerated in the Constitution. In general, the significant issues raised by the contending parties were addressed through the Massachusetts Compromise. While the compromise paved the way for reaching the needed support for establishing the Constitution as proposed by the federalists, it also gave credit to the sentiments of the anti-federal ists, thereby securing the passing of the Bill of Rights as part of the condition in passing the Constitution.Another interesting aspect of the Constitution is the fact that slavery was not immediately abolished entirely after the Constitution was passed. It was only after the Thirteenth Amendment when slavery and involuntary servitude were finally abolished by the law. Moreover, the successful ratification of the Constitution would have hardly been realized had there been no compromises which sought to protect the interests of the slave-owners at the time when the Constitution was well on its way to being formally recognized.Concessions had to be made so that the framers of the Constitution would gather support from those who were pro-slavery. Otherwise, they would have been unable to pass the Constitution (Furstenberg, 2003). The compromises with regard to the issue of slavery during the debates over the Constitution at the Constitutional Convention include the proposal of those w ho were against slavery to count ââ¬Å"slavesâ⬠as three-fifths of all other persons since the number of free persons determined the representation in Congress at the time.It was made clear, however, that the ââ¬Å"three-fifthsâ⬠count for every slave was not meant to dehumanize them but rather to penalize those who owned slaves. Another compromise reached during the Constitutional Convention is the protection of the slave trade; it was a concession that the delegates who were for slavery proposed. However, the compromise did not hinder the individual states from altogether outlawing or restricting the existing slave trade after the passing of the Constitution. Lastly, fugitive slaves were expected to be returned to the state from which they came from.It was a compromise that distinguished the federal government from the individual states in the sense that slavery practiced in some states was not to be sanctioned by the Constitution. To a certain extent, federal laws did not legitimize slavery as an institution although neither did it sanction slavery as far as the individual states are concerned. The compromise essentially permitted the return of fugitive slaves from the original states that they were held in labor without stressing the point that these slaves should be freed as part of the concession to the demands of the pro-slavery delegates in the Convention.Through the years, the Constitution of the United States of America has had several initial clauses and key amendments that underscored the urgent need to make compromises in order to complete the task of creating a Constitution that will embody the principles of the nation.ReferencesChan, M. Organizational Focus and Goals Essay
Forte is a nonprofit organization in its infancy. The organization is only three years old and has already seen substantial changes to its structure and business strategy. Currently, Forte is mostly unknown. However, this past year the organization took a huge leap in firing its Artistic Director and choreographer and hiring a new Artistic Director and choreographer. Both new additions bring a wealth of knowledge of the performing arts industry that has catapulted Forte to setting their sights higher than the two performances a year. In the past two years the organization was funded primarily through parental donations, which were small and only allowed the organization to perform twice a year. This past year with the addition of the new employees, the organization saw ticket sales increase tremendously and interest from many more students in joining. CURRENT FOCUS AND GOALS Forte is focused on gaining a reputation within the performing arts community. As a young organization located in a small community, it is imperative that the organization remain focused on establishing the companyââ¬â¢s reputation. The goals of Forte are now to be able to increase the student membership, increase the amount of performances per year, and to increase funding to make the other two goals possible. TRAINING NEEDS Forte is a very young organization with a board of directors that are in desperate need of training. The knowledge that is lacking within this board of directors is staggering. ââ¬Å"Training refers to a planned effort by the company to facilitate employeesââ¬â¢ learning of job-related competenciesâ⬠(Noe, 2008, p. 4). The board handles all the business end of the organization with little knowledge of what is available to them. Training in two areas is suggested. Those two areas are educating the board on best practices in producing a production and in communication standards and ethics. As no current board member is educated in the performing arts, they are hemorrhaging money on expenses that are not needed. Training in where to buy and rent production equipment is an area with huge opportunity to cut costs and improve the quality. By improving the quality of production equipment and cutting costs, the organization will have more money to spend in other areas such as set design and costumes as well as space rentals for performances. By educating the board on proper communication standards schedules can be met and instruction from the artistic director and choreographer will improve. As it stands now, far too much rehearsal time is spent with the board asking questions and interrupting rehearsals. By training in effective communication between the employees and board, the time taken away from instruction will increase, increasing the talent of the organization. EFFECTS THE FOCUS AND GOALS HAVE ON PRIORITIZING THE TYPE AND AMOUNT OF TRAINING Forteââ¬â¢s focus and goals affect the type of training and amount of trainingà needed. Because Forte desires to gain a wider reputation and increase available performances, the training needs to be comprehensive and happen quickly. Both the new Artistic Director and choreographer have taken several board members into a sort of internship for this year. This on the job training will accomplish in a short amount of time the massive training needed. PRIORITIZING TRAINING NEEDS Forte will prioritize those areas that will direct the finances of the winter season first. Gaining a handle on the hemorrhaging funds is a top priority in order to allow those funds to be put to better use. In order to progress to the goals of the organization, it is suggested the training prioritize the financial aspects of training first. As it stands now, this is the largest area of opportunity for training and the largest area of opportunity for growth. CONCLUSION Training develops the skills needed to perform job-related tasks efficiently and effectively which directly affects the organization. (Noe, 2008) Training also creates a positive work environment. Creating a positive work environment attracts talented employees and customers. Forte seeks to attract more talented performers. In order to this, training in how to produce a performing arts production properly needs to happen, or the talent will not join. Reference Noe, R. A. Urbanization in Tokyo Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Urbanization in Tokyo - Essay Example massive urbanization in Tokyo has had several negative consequences and challenges. It was impossible to avoid those irrevocable pitfalls, taking into account the accelerated pace of peopleââ¬â¢s migration. It is extremely difficult to govern such a huge city and satisfy the demands of millions of citizens. However, Tokyo Metropolitan Government has made a great job meeting the cityââ¬â¢s requirements and designed complicated strategies to satisfy the needs of this megacity. Apart from shortage of resource supply and waste problems, the most serious and threatening negative outcome of urbanization is air pollution. Tokyoââ¬â¢s ecological situation is far from satisfactory and is getting worse. Most wonders of civilization, which alleviate peopleââ¬â¢s life, such as air conditioning, personal vehicles and industrial objects, aggravate Tokyoââ¬â¢s ecology in global sense. TMG has implemented two solutions to address this issue. The first one concerned diesel fuel and die sel vehicles. Some of them were completely abolished, and some were reorganized to use gasoline. All these steps were taken to reduce sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere and improve the quality of air. The second solution concerned global warming and greenhouse effect. To solve this ecological problem, TMG encouraged greening rooftops and walls of high buildings, using energy saving devices and fostered commercial facilities to reduce their greenhouse gas emission. Both of these two solutions can be evaluated as effective and wise steps towards sustainability of ecology in Tokyo. It is important to think about health of present citizens and that of future generations. Our duty is to ensure stability, confidence and prosperity for our descendants and not to doom them to live in a nasty and dirty world.

Curriculum Development Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1
Curriculum Development - Essay Example The authors focus on the standard of curriculum design for higher education as well as secondary education (Wiggins & McTighe, 2005). The objective of Olivaââ¬â¢s model is to analyze the needs of society in which schools are established. The model further aims to enhance the requirements of students and exigencies regarding the subject that will be taught in school. The purpose is to implement and organize the curriculum to establish and formulate the structure by which the course design will be prepared (Oliva, 1992). Wiggins and McTighe states that the profession of teaching is very close to engineering and design. Like the later, teachers too need to be client-centered. The authors believe that the effectiveness of teacher through instruction, assessment, and curriculum, determines the desired learning (Wiggins & McTighe, 2005). Olivaââ¬â¢s model shows that teachers choose instructional strategies to use in the classroom with students. Furthermore, the instructors need to use preliminary selection technique for evaluation. At this point, the teachers think ahead and commence to consider ways that will assess the achievements of students (Oliva, 1992). Wiggins and McTighe use the clichà © ââ¬Ëform follows functionââ¬â¢ that describe the idea how the course should be developed around its planned purpose. They state that content focused design is too ambiguous as it does not elucidate the reason of how discussion and reading help students. The authors formulated templates of questions for instructors to develop a lesson (Wiggins & McTighe, 2005). In Olivaââ¬â¢s model, very diminutive attention has been given to cognitive construct and development of understanding. The author has consistently focused on identifying and specifying needs of students. However, Wiggins and McTighe explores the concept of understanding and its importance if course designs. Understanding is highly crucial for cognitive construct

Reserach proposal Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words
Reserach proposal - Essay Example The postmodern media revolution could only aggravate the situation further with, especially since 9/11 disaster, misrepresentations and distorted images of Islam and Muslims gaining unprecedented and higher visibilities in the Western public spheres. However, despite the seeming ruptures this process of representation and misrepresentation has a definite historical and political backdrop embedded within huge cultural politics spanned across the centuries, ever since negotiations of different sorts had commenced between the Christian and Muslim cultures. This project attempts to study about western perceptions of Islam especially since the middle ages to the contemporary times and the surrounding cultural politics, both international and domestic. The specific objectives of the study are: 1. To deconstruct the meaning and understanding of Islam and Muslim culture at large as they are predominantly represented within the western culture ââ¬â since the medieval to modern times. 2. T o throw light upon the historical and political backdrop and the cultural elements invariably involved in the production of knowledge about Islam and its culture in the west. 3. ... The attempt is precisely oriented towards exposing the hidden cultural politics behind stereotyping a whole culture and on what basis such stereotypes get reception and get reproduced over different periods of time. Contextualising the project and review of literature As I mentioned earlier the proposed project shall focus on the image of Islam in the West from the medieval ages to the present. The study is immensely significant since the ââ¬Å"West must deal with Islam as a growing social, political and religious realityâ⬠(Quinn, 2008: 17). A significant development in the recent global politics, especially in the aftermath of the 9/11 incidents and the recent war on Iraq and the related events, is the emergence of a fungible notion of Islam and terrorism. Issues pertaining to Islam are already finding their place in the cutting edge of political, military and economic interests of the West. The terrain is much complicated, and still adds onto it, with the fact that a great d eal of ignorance about Islam and its culture in general is further manipulated by those in the political forefronts in the West to build upon a historically and culturally constructed notion of hostility and incongruity between Islam and Christian cultures. The images, representations, and perceptions of Islam are ââ¬Å"abound in the academic and popular pressâ⬠throughout the twentieth-century world (Mirza, 2007: 2). Perhaps with the intellectual and technological changes, together with the recent historical events in the contemporary Muslim world, greater attention to certain institution or faith such as Islam has become widely possible (Esposito, 1999: ix). Bassiri (2010) has traced this synonymous usage between Islam and terrorism back to the age of Reagan
